The only reference in the Bible to Noah's wife is found in Genesis 7:7, "So Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, went into the ark because of the waters of the flood."

The Bible does not give her name, however, Jewish tradition calls her Naamah. Genesis 4:22 mentions Naamah the sister of Tubal-cain, a descendant of Cain, the son of Adam and Eve. Naamah was a daughter of Lamech by his wife Zillah. But no one knows how Naamah’s name became associated with Noah’s wife since the Bible does not make that connection. Naamah, meaning "the beautiful" or "the pleasant one," reflects the worldly mind of the Cainites, who often looked for beauty rather than for character as the chief attraction in women (Nichol, Francis D., Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, Washington, D.C., Review and Herald Publishing Association, 1978).

But despite not knowing her name, we do know that Noah’s wife was a godly woman. She supported Noah in the special job God had given him to build an ark and save people and animals from a world-wide flood. Noah’s wife showed her faith in God by going into the ark and being saved from the flood.
